This event is organized by Apertura DoP, a nonprofit organization of women cinematographers in Mexico, created in 2018 to spread the work of women and LGBTIQ+ community.
One of our multiple goals is to create educational spaces, for which, we have carried out multiple workshops instructed by our members, as well as professionals from the industry of our country.
A few years ago it occurred to us to do a masterclass with Matthew Duclos whom we met at NAB in 2017. We started organizing it in 2019, however the pandemic put the project on hold. Now that the situation has been controlled, we decided to pick it up again with greater force and make a much bigger event.
From Aperture to Zoom: The Art of Lensing we are excited to bring engineering together with creativity. Deepen the education on technology and science generates ideas that contribute to the narrative. This event brings this aspects to the Latinoamerican Cinematography Community so we can see those new ideas on the screen very soon.

Lecturers:
Matthew Duclos:
Is a technician and engineer specialized on cine lenses set in LA. It is dedicated to modified, make service and sell high quality optics to cinematographers worldwide. With his father co founded Duclos Lenses, which opened its doors in 2002. As an optic engineer, he dedicated himself fully to Duclos Lenses when the company exploded into success.
He has been recognized by the ASC and the SOC as an Associate Member, as well as a Committee Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Jay Holben:
A former cinematographer, he is author of three books on cinematography (including The Cine Lens Manual), contributing technical editor for American Cinematographer Magazine, faculty instructor for Global Cinematography Institute and international lecturer, an Associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the chair/co-chair of several of the ASC Motion Imaging Technology Council Committees.
