The Kowa Evolution 2x Anamorphic lenses by PS Technik are a modern reimagining of the classic Kowa Anamorphic lenses, renowned for their unique visual characteristics and distinctive look. 
First gaining popularity in the 1970s, these lenses have been updated to meet the demands of contemporary cinematography while retaining the charm and optical qualities that made them iconic.

PS Technik significantly enhanced the construction and ergonomics of each lens, ensuring precise handling, smooth focus, and optimal integration with modern camera systems. 
This update not only improves durability and consistency across focal lengths, but it also introduces additional features that make them suitable for high-level production environments.

The Kowa Evolution 2x lenses maintain the characteristic 2x compression ratio, which produces stunning horizontal flares and the signature oval bokeh that contribute to a classic anamorphic look, evoking a sense of depth and emotion. 
Being lighter and more compact than most anamorphic lenses, they are ideal for handheld configurations and shooting in tight spaces.

Kowa Optimed is part of Kowa Company Limited, one of the largest privately owned companies in Japan. Founded in 1894, Kowa has grown into a multinational Japanese company actively engaged in various manufacturing and trading activities in the fields of optics, pharmaceutical, life science, textiles and various consumer products.
The Electronics and Optics division of Kowa began the production of lenses in 1946 and spotting scopes in 1952. Later binoculars and cameras were added to the portfolio.
Whereas the production of cameras was discontinued in the 1970s, the product lines of lenses in both the CCTV and machine vision categories have become one of the most extensive in the market. In addition to its standard lens portfolio Kowa also provides custom lens solutions to ensure that each customer finds the perfect fit with a Kowa product for any type of project.
Since the beginning of the 1980s Kowa has a sales office in Europe. For the optical division Kowa Optimed Deutschland GmbH serves the European market from Düsseldorf. A small, dedicated team provides sales and technical support for the European market. The European team works in close communication with the technical development and production in Japan. 
Most lenses are on stock in Düsseldorf and can be shipped to anywhere in Europe within a few days.

P+S TECHNIK became generally known for its support of ARRIFLEX products and conversions. Nowadays the company offers a wide range of other products and is especially best known for the award winning P+S TECHNIK image converter MINI35 and PRO35.The image converters represent the fusion of classical 35mm film lenses and digital recording. With the development of these products P+S Technik influenced decisively the progress in the digital film.
In 2000 the SKATER® Mini was born and following the ideas of Director/DoP Sebastian Cramer a whole product family has been continuously developed. The fact, that the SKATER® delivers an optimal performance in the practice, has been proved in 2008: The SKATER® Mini and its family of products have been awarded with the Technical Achievement Award of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
In 2005 the WEISSCAM HS-1, the first camera of P+S TECHNIK, has been developed in cooperation with DoP Stefan Weiss. The digital high speed camera is suitable for extreme slow motion picture in commercial and sport takes.
Two years later P+S TECHNIK launched in cooperation with Silicon Imaging the SI-2K Digital Cinema Camera. With the SI-2K P+S TECHNIK introduced another high-quality product onto the market and completes since the choice of digital film cameras. The SI-2K and SI-3D Camera Systems are full 2K resolution 2/3 CMOS single sensor acquisition systems for 2D and s3D cinematography.
The new WEISSCAM HS-2 MKII was launched in 2009. It is the only standalone Super35 CMOS Sensor multi-purpose high speed camera available in the market.
P+S TECHNIK is also dedicated to advancing 3D stereography for broadcast and cinema together with pioneers in the field. The 3D Stereo Rig product family offers leading mirror rigs to cover the requirements of creatives as well as of producers for different types of productions - a Standard Rig and the Freestyle Rig opening the realms of camera movement for stereography.
Beginning in 2006 P+S TECHNIK started to invest increasing efforts in the challenges and problems of audiovisual archive material. Consequently, as a member of the European PrestoSpace project, P+S TECHNIK stepped into the development of the former roroco archive scanner today known as SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner. End 2008 P+S TECHNIK started the production of the SteadyFrame. As a new state-of-the-art digital film scanner for scanning great quantities of 16 mm and 35 mm film stock in short time at a high quality without harming the film material it also has the capability for other - even exotic - formats.
